Since september 2019 Montéal has been our Canadian home. We want to acknowledge the Territories of the diverse first caretakers and traditional keepers (known in English as First Nations, Métis, and Inuit) of this land and waters and give thanks to them for sharing their land, resources, and knowledge with us.

Les Trois qui bougent
Created for Montréal’s Festival Eureka in 2019, Les Trois qui Bougent is a playful street performance that addresses sustainable mobility. Through three lively characters—a polluting car, a bicycle, and an electric bus—the show humorously debates the future of transportation. TRANSFORMATIONS
Between 2021 and 2022, Jobel produced Transformation, a series of 14 dance films supported by the Canada Council for the Arts. Bringing together 16 artists from across Toronto, Montréal, Calgary, and Vancouver, the project explored environmental and social themes through movement, offering audiences powerful reflections on change and resilience

MOON | Montréal
In 2020, Jobel created MOON, an urban artwork designed in harmony with nature and presented as part of Montréal’s cultural programming. Produced in collaboration with Version 10, Lucion, and Gabriela Jovian-Mazon, the installation offered residents a poetic and immersive experience, inviting them to reflect on their relationship with the natural world and the city environment.

SmarTalk Leonardo Da Vinci
In 2019, Jobel created SmarTalk Leonardo Da Vinci, a conference-performance produced in Ottawa to mark the 500th anniversary of Leonardo’s death. Combining expert talks with live artistic performance, the event celebrated Leonardo’s genius and was presented at Carleton University and the Carleton Dominion-Chalmers Centre in collaboration with Italian and Swiss cultural institutions.

Dans le Fleuve - Into the River
From August 2022 to August 2023, Jobel created Dans le Fleuve, a large-scale multimedia installation in Montréal developed with RodeoFX, Studio de Musique Ancienne de Montréal, Bentall Green Oak, and the David Suzuki Foundation. Supported by the Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan Montreal and the Ministry of Economy, Energy, and Innovation, the project offered an artistic immersion that invited participants to experience the Saint Lawrence River as a living and vital resource at the heart of Montréal’s identity.

NOUVELLE CREATION
From December 2023 to February 2024, Jobel led Nouvelle Création with students of Collège Sainte Marcelline in Montréal. Combining playwriting, facilitation, stage direction, and visual storytelling, the project engaged students in every step of the creative process. Presented for the school’s centenary, the performance blended minimalist aesthetics, object manipulation, and physical theatre to highlight the power of youth collaboration in artistic creation.

Dante's Perspective
In 2021, Jobel presented Dante’s Perspective – La Perspective de Dante, an online multidisciplinary event commemorating the 700th anniversary of Dante Alighieri’s death. Produced in collaboration with the Embassy of Italy in Canada and the Italian Cultural Institute of Toronto, the project combined performance and scholarship, with Princeton professor Simone Marchesi guiding audiences through themes of politics, nature, and love in Dante’s poetry

Marinella Montanari is a multidisciplinary art producer, artistic director, actress, and theatre instructor whose work bridges artistic creation with civic purpose. Since the late 1990s, she has developed projects highlighting environmental stewardship and cultural heritage, co-founding Jobel in 2000 and Centro Jobel in 2003, later recognized as a National Artistic Residency by Italy’s Ministry of Culture. Trained in Rome and across Europe with leading theatre figures, her stage and voice career spans solo and ensemble works that blend movement, text, and visual composition. Since relocating to Montréal in 2019, Marinella has expanded her practice at the intersection of performance and digital arts, producing projects such as MOON, Dante’s Perspective, Transformation, and Dans le Fleuve. She also leads theatre workshops with the Ottawa Catholic School Board, focusing on sustainability, ecology, and social inclusion. An experienced cultural organizer and speaker, she has contributed to events at the United Nations, Creative Europe, and Voices of Olympia Canada. Complementing her artistic work with training in eco-design, cultural strategy, and project management, Marinella continues to use the arts as a tool for dialogue, reflection, and community connection.
